Adieu, Graceans!

Education uplifts a man and bestows upon him a singular honor. With education, a man becomes a new person who holds in his hands, not only his personal promising future but the power and opportunity to make our world a better place for everyone else. A person who is proud and confident of himself.
Ladies and Gentlemen, a lovely afternoon.

---------------------------------------------------------------
God opens millions of flowers without forcing the buds, this reminds me that for a thing to happen perfectly we must not force it. There is no shortcut or an easy way in this life, to be successful, one must go through a hard process that involves millions of problems along the way. To succeed, it is a must to milk our moments, treat every events of our lives as a part of our learning experiences. Indeed, whatever happens I truly believe God does what is best yet He says that a perfect time has to come.
Yes! A perfect time to face the truth, of accomplishment. A perfect time of representing the years of ceaseless study and hard work. In a larger sense, this very special day is not the culmination of the preparation for our lifetime careers instead it is actually the beginning ---- the launching of our purpose in life, very much like the launching of a new ship destined to sail the turbulent and perilous seas.
Where am I going? Such a question leaves me in quandary and proposes that there are choices to be made. The direction I take must be in congruence with my life’s perspective. But even this regard, I am uncertain. Life has been a struggle and my strength lies in coping with it. Struggle is inherent in my existence and should be overcome. Being dipped in reality produces anxiety although much is to be expected. As life gradually unfolds, I deem EDUCATION as a bulwark. It had led me to wider horizons and has given me the strength to face any struggle.
I want to share a story to everyone. One night I unexpectedly browse a certain thing and unnoticeably searched the name of someone who is closest to my heart. I read about her description and I was challenged as I peruse these inspiring words of hers: "A person who knows how to handle any responsibility will surely attain the glory that life has to offer." That. That was her belief during her college years. You may be wondering who is this woman I’m pertaining to. That woman was no other than my mom, Elisa Fabia. From that very moment, my urge to attain my dreams and my willingness to strive harder as I climb the stepping stones to begin on my journey in my college life soar higher!
Life changes when we least expect it to, this may sound cliché but it is true. The future is uncertain for life is full of uncertainties. We will never know when our life is up until it’s over. Life is what we make it. We can achieve everything if we simply remain optimistic even in the darkest moments and decisions are the hardest moves to make especially when it’s a choice between where you should be and where you want to be – a philosophy that Divine Grace repeatedly taught me. There enters my belief that wherever you go, go with all your heart.

I do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is our life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Yet, we learned to be simple but strong. We learn to believe that an amazing thing can happen during our wait for things to change. We learn to fight when we have to, to listen to others, to hold on to our ideals, to accept our shortcomings and to bear in our minds that not everybody pleases us. We learned not to count what we lost but rather cherish what we have and plan what to gain because past never returns but the future may fulfill the loss. I guess, learning really takes time and mistakes make one’s journey more fun. That’s how this institution showed to seniors what really life is. It’s never too late to learn anyways.
They say there is a reason for everything that’s happening. Maybe that’s why I was able to study on such school like Divine Grace which serves as my second home, to our advisers whom we used to call “tatay”. It seems only yesterday when I was a stranger introducing myself in front of my new classmates. It seems only yesterday when people kept calling us ‘the worst class’. It seems only yesterday when we became best of friends. It only seems yesterday when we were together playing, singing, dancing, scolding and sleeping beside each other. Worst, it seems only yesterday when we were having countdown for the days that was left. Eventually, time really flies so fast that I didn’t even noticed that we were wearing togas and make ups today. Depths of every seniors’ heart and even soul, I doubt to disagree but really, we hardly accept that this isn’t fantasy nor a nightmare anymore. With all the enjoyable tiring races, i-almost-cried-practice presentations, the i-still-have-this-hang-over-happenings and with those all out laughs! Ta-da! Today is our very day— the GRADUATION.
Graduation, Graduation, that's the reason why we are all gathered here today. There's a good reason why they call these ceremonies as 'commencement exercises'. Graduation is not the end, it is the beginning. It is really hard to digest the fact that we will graduate this day but as a matter of fact all of these celebrations and exercises are only tradition for the sake of formalities because the truth is graduation is only a concept. In real life, we graduate every day, as the day ends we also graduate and the next day is another opportunity to learn and explore new things. Graduation is a process that goes on until our last breath in this life.  I remember one man saying that the one who graduate today and stop learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after, don’t you agree? It only means that we must not stop learning because of graduation, every graduation we had only signifies how ready are we to face another chapter of our lives, how the past chapter molded us to be a greater person.
This day would be my last day in High School. Soon I will go somewhere to continue learning but before I leave I want to extend my dearest gratitude to many people in DGMHS. First and foremost, Thank you Divine Grace for giving us the opportunity to prove our own capabilities and talents. Thank you Ma’am Bel for molding our potentials, teaching us to remain standing despite of obstacles in life, to be dependent on ourselves and encouraging every one of us to pursue our goals. Thank you Teacher Lester for the words of encouragement during our failures, for letting us feel that grades don’t define a person but attitude does. Your patience serves as your best gift to us! A gift beyond description. And Thank You to everyone who one  way or another helped me in my stay in Divine Grace.

I'm also extending my dearest love and thank you to my family who despite of my "katigasan ng ulo" remains to be on my side. To my sister Liezl who stays to be a good sister despite of all misunderstandings we had, to my mom; the strongest woman who serves as the wonder woman of my life and to everyone who inspired me to be a better person and do something great.
Above all, I thank God for continually filling our spirits and hearts with wisdom and truth.
Life is a triple-lettered E. Yesterday is Experience. Today is experiment. Tomorrow is expectations. Someday, I would be very glad seeing my fellow graduates to become someone they want to be in the future. Graduates, may you use your experience in your experiment to achieve your expectations.
When we leave, we must not forget the reason why we came. We must learn to look back. As I depart the institution that taught me variety of knowledge that will help me through in this so called life I want to share one thing about Divine Grace Montessori and High School. DGMHS is more than a school, it is a family, it is LOVE.
I am Lorie Mae Fabia Bautista, a certified Gracean, now signing off.
